Police: Car Clocked at 83 in 30
An off-duty valet is charged with drunken driving after police allegedly clocked his car at 83 miles per hour. Narragansett police logs from March 29, 2013.

Valet Charged With Drunken Driving; Car Clocked at 83 in 30
Gary S. Dove, 22, of 14 Windcheck Pond Road, Hopkinton, was arrested at about 2:02 a.m. on March 29 and charged with drunken driving, and cited for refusing to submit to a chemical test. Police noted that Dove works as a valet.

According to police, an officer monitoring traffic from Jerry’s Hardware on Point Judith Road clocked a blue Volkswagen hatchback driven by Dove at 83 miles per hour in a 30 mile per hour zone. The officer radioed ahead to another officer to be ready to make a traffic stop on the car.
Police said the second officer, who was stopped at the intersection of South Pier Road and Point Judith Road, saw the car and pulled behind it as it turned on to the Route 1 North on-ramp. A traffic stop was made on the overpass.

According to police, an empty bottle of Ciroc vodka was on the backseat of Dove’s car. Police said Dove smelled strongly of alcohol, and he asked officers why they had stopped his car.
Police said that when Dove was told why his car had been stopped, he allegedly told them he wasn’t going that fast, only 65 miles per hour. Police said that it took Dove about three minutes to find his license, registration and insurance card.
According to police, Dove initially refused to exit his car or submit to field sobriety tests before changing his mind. Police said Dove failed field sobriety tests, at which point he was arrested.
Police said Dove refused to submit to chemical breath tests at headquarters. He was processed and then held for arraignment at Fourth Division District Court at 9 a.m.
URI Student Cited for Alcohol Violation
Michael J. Yanish, 20, of 2 Summit Road, Narragansett, was cited at about 9:19 p.m. on March 29 and charged with transportation of alcohol by a minor. Police said Yanish is a student at the University of Rhode Island.
According to police, an officer monitoring traffic on Point Judith Road near Burnside Avenue saw a yellow SUV with a defective rear plate light. A traffic stop was made on Jamestown Boulevard near Kingston Lane.
Police said that during the traffic stop, an 18-pack of Budweiser could be seen in plain view on the rear bench seat. The beer was confiscated, and Yanish was cited for the violation.
Samaritan of the Day – Cynthia Siegel
At about 12:21 p.m. on March 29, police received a report of a wallet found by Cynthia Siegel, 58.
Siegel told police that she found the wallet while bicycling near St. Veronica’s Church on Boston Neck Road. Police said the wallet had several credit cards, a driver’s license and a University of Rhode Island student ID.
According to police, the owner of the wallet was contacted.
