Police: Neon Clocked at 84 in 50

South Kingstown police stop a Narragansett man after clocking his car at 84 miles per hour in a 50 mile per hour zone. South Kingstown police logs from April 20, April 21 and April 22, 2013.

Narragansett Man Charged With DUI, License Violation

Michael T. Pagliarini Governo, 24, of 49 Pomfret Road, Narragansett, was arrested at about 2:54 a.m. on April 21 and charged with drunken driving and driving with a suspended license, and cited for refusing to submit to a chemical test.

According to police, an officer monitoring traffic on Route 1 clocked a blue Dodge Neon driven by Pagliarini Governo at 84 miles per hour in a 50 mile per hour zone.

Police said that despite the siren and lights of the officer’s squad car, Pagliarini Governo did not initially stop on Route 1, instead taking the exit for the Dillon Rotary. Police said Pagliarini Governo finally stopped on the rotary, with his wheel up on the curb.

According to police, Pagliarini Governo smelled strongly of alcohol, and couldn’t answer basic questions. Police said he consented to field sobriety tests, which he failed, and a background check revealed his license was suspended.

Police said Pagliarini Governo refused to submit to chemical tests at headquarters. He was processed and then released at about 6:22 a.m.

New York Man Charged With License Violation

Johnathan R. Wahlen, 23, of 49 Dogwood Road, West Islip, NY, was arrested at about 12:15 a.m. on April 20 and charged with driving with a suspended license.

According to police, an officer monitoring traffic on Route 108 near Charles Street, a car was clocked at 44 miles per hour in 25 mile per hour zone. A traffic stop was made just past the Dale Carlia intersection.

Police said that the driver – Wahlen – provided them with a Rhode Island ID card and an expired New York driver’s license. Police said a background check confirmed that Wahlen’s license was suspended, and he was arrested without incident.

According to police, Wahlen was processed at headquarters and then released at about 12:55 a.m.

South Kingstown Man Arrested for Warrant

Patrick John Lepore, 33, of 159 Robinson St., South Kingstown, was arrested at about 12:25 p.m. on April 21. Police said a Fourth Division District Court warrant was out for Lepore’s arrest.

According to police, an officer monitoring traffic saw Lepore sitting in a car being driven on Route 1. A traffic stop was made after the Pond Street exit.

Police said the officer confirmed Lepore’s identity and the warrant’s issuance, and Lepore was arrested without incident. After Lepore was unable to provide bail money, he was transferred to the ACI at 2:30 p.m.

100-Pound Tire Stolen

At about 11 a.m. on April 21, police received a report of a stolen 100-pound tire from CrossFit on Fairgrounds Road.

The owner, a 50-year-old North Kingstown man, told police that the tire was stolen sometime between Thursday afternoon and Friday afternoon. He said he wasn’t interested in pressing charges, he just wanted the tire back.
