Rhode Island Governor: Shop Small When Buying Plants This Spring
Gov. Dan McKee asked residents to consider supporting small garden shops, who were hit hard by the timing of the shutdown last spring.

PROVIDENCE, RI — Spring is creeping into Rhode Island, leading many residents to start their spring garden shopping. Whether you're in the market for some lilies for Easter or a whole garden outfit, the new governor is asking Rhode Islanders to consider shopping small this spring.
The timing of the stay-at-home order last March put small businesses at "a distinct disadvantage," Gov. Dan McKee said, since they were hit with the double whammy of forcing to close at the start of the season and losing Easter floral business.
One year later, Rhode Island is in a much better place, with restrictions set to be loosened on businesses across-the-board starting next week.
