3 Rhode Island Seafood Festivals Named The Best In New England

The Newport Oyster Festival, Charlestown Seafood Festival and Rhode Island Seafood Festival were named some of the best by Yankee Magazine.

CHARLESTOWN, RI — Living in New England means that there's no shortage of delicious seafood. Three of Rhode Island's seafood festivals have been ranked in the top 10 in the region by Yankee Magazine. The Newport Oyster Festival, Charlestown Seafood Festival and Rhode Island Seafood Festival all made the list.

If you were hoping to attend all three Rhode Island festivals this year, you're out of luck. Newport's Oyster Festival during the weekend of May 17 through 19, but the annual event is expected to return to Bowen's Wharf next spring.

The Charlestown Seafood Festival is held at Ninigret Park from August 2 through 4. The festival includes a wide variety of Ocean State seafood offerings, including clam cakes and chowder, lobster, fish and chips and more. Local vendors, amusement park rides, a kite exhibition, a car show and more will provide entertainment throughout the weekend.

The Rhode Island Seafood Festival also made the list. The festival has been held at India Point Park since 2011 and features offerings from seafood restaurants across the state to end the summer. This year's festival will be held September 7 and 8. Parking at the event is limited,
