RI Among Worst States For Doctors: Wallet Hub

Is your doctor leaving the state? Rhode is the 49th worst state to practice medicine, according to a new survey by Wallet Hub.

NARRAGANSETT, RI — Is your doctor leaving the state? Rhode is the 49th worst state to practice medicine, according to a new survey by Wallet Hub, the personal finance website. Only New Jersey is worse. Even D.C. ranked higher.

Among the financial challenges for doctors, the survey looked at malpractice awards and competition for jobs (and patients). By 2024, the Ocean State will be tied with Connecticut and Washington, D.C. in 47th place for highest projected competition. As for malpractice awards, Rhode Island came in 48th. New Jersey, New York, and New Hampshire tied for 49th. For the whole study, click here.
