RI Beaches Closed For The Season, Parking Capacity Still Reduced
The extended beach season ended Sept. 21.

NARRAGANSETT, RI — The past few days may have felt summer-like in Rhode Island, Labor Day has come and gone, and the extended state beach season ended this week. Although restrooms, pavilions and all other beach facilities are officially closed for the season, parking lot capacity remains restricted at several state beaches, to prevent overcrowding.
Throughout the off-season, state beach parking lots will remain open to the public, free of charge. Although beach facilities usually close after Labor Day weekend, the unofficial end of summer, Gov, Gina Raimondo opted to keep them open an additional two weeks this year, until last Sept. 21, because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Although restrooms are closed, porta-potties are open at nearly all locations, and will stay open as long as the weather permits, the Department of Environmental Management said.
