RI Fans Have A Say About PawSox Move

The fans were not happy, but some said they understood how Rhode Island politics complicated the deal.

Rhode Island fans are not happy the PawSox have decided to leave. "Call them the Woosers" to rhyme with losers, one said. And there were harsher remarks when Patch asked for comments and whether anybody would make a trip to Worcester to see the team.

But some said they understood how Rhode Island politics complicated the deal. And a couple didn't want tax money to finance the team. Here are some of the comments.

Andie Doherty Dwyer: Nope, I won't be going. The new ownership ruined the PawSox. Ben Mondor would be very upset with their changes.

Kate Carruba: The Paris of New England. Nope I won't go.

Paul Carpender: Sorry to see them go but I blame it on Matiello whose plan increased the cost of financing the stadium to around $83 million.

Audrey Boisvert: If we m going to travel that far, I’m going to see the Red Sox instead!

Ken Richards: You need to put your frustration towards the Speaker and the Governer. Sorry but Worcester seems a lot more optimistic about having them.Listening to most of the announcement. The leadership in Worcester make me feel they want to do it for the people in Worcester. All I ever felt from the Speaker was he was in the deal for himself.
Maybe if the Leadership was left alone to negotiate the deal on thier own.Maybe The Red Sox would be staying or chances would be a hell of lot better.Allowing Matteillo aand the Governor get involved just to piont everyone to the Speaker is not leadership.
Personally with the declining attendance attendence of the PawSox and the rotten taste in every Rhode Islanders mouth I do not blame them for this move.

Lesley Addlem Nope. Think new name should be Woosers. Pronounced like losers or puss. Take your pick.

Loretta Whitesides: Nope

Kate Carruba: I’d rather go to Boston

Tom Petrin: Woo Woo no way. Will go to Newport Gulls games.

Andy Tibbits: Not me

Paul Anthony Bertel: Newport Gulls, fine for me.

Thomas Silvestri: Let Worcester deal with the Fenway like prices for everything.

SuMa Bo: RI loses something else beneficial. Inadequate leadership?

Charles Martin: Nope but then again didnt go when it was here so why start now.
