RI Philharmonic Pops To Perform At Town Beach

Friday night's performance will be the 41st annual. The event is sponsored by the Town rec department.

NARRAGANSETT, RI — Weather permitting, the Rhode Island Philharmonic Pops will perform at the North Beach Clubhouse on Friday from 8 to 10 p.m. The program is expected to include patriotic anthems like Stars and Stripes Forever and America the Beautiful as well as adopted favorites like Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture. Other likely choices are Leonard Bernstein's Candide, Rossini's William Tell Overture, Elgar's Pomp and Circumstance, and film sound tracks from Star Trek, Pirates of the Carribean and Batman: The Dark Knight Rises.

The rain date is July 8. Before the concert, there's a cocktail party (cash bar) and dinner. Tickets are $50 and can be purchased from the Parks and Rec department. Call 401-782-0658 for more information.
