RI Sees Relief At The Gas Pump Ahead Of Potential Spring Surge
Over the past week, the average price of gas fell 1 cent to $2.77.
PROVIDENCE, RI — After more than a month of rising prices, the cost of gas has started to level off in Rhode Island. Despite a slight decrease over the past week, AAA experts believe a summer price surge is on the way.
Over the past week, the average price per gallon in Rhode Island fell 1 cent to $2.77. That price is 10 cents higher than this time last month and 72 cents higher than this time last year.
Rhode Island's average price is 10 cents lower than the national average of $2.87.

Despite the slight relief from rising prices, another increase could be on the way in the coming months.
"We anticipate demand will continue to increase throughout the month as vaccinations become more widely available and weather turns warmer," said Lloyd Albert, a spokesperson for AAA Northeast. "This will lead to fluctuation at the pump throughout the spring season."
