RI Weather: How Much Rain Fell On Your Town?

Hope Valley in Washington County saw 2.93 inches, according to unofficial totals the National Weather Service said.

Two tornadoes hit the New England area on Saturday, the National Weather Service has confirmed. One was in Worcester County (Webster, Mass., and Douglas, Mass., about an hour away from Providence) The other was in Woodstock, Conn.

In Rhode Island, there was flooding in sections of Cranston, North Kingstown, Bristol and Barrington. The National Weather Service's storm report mentions a car stuck in water in Cranston on Wilbur and Oaklawn avenues and a flooded basement in Barrington on Purchase Street. But in nearby Fall River, Mass., and on Cape Cod, some people were trapped in their cars, and reports came in about cars floating in high water.

In Newport, the sun came out around 5 p.m., but light rain came back around 6.

As far as Rhode Island rainfall totals, Hope Valley in Washington County had 2.93 inches, according to unofficial totals the National Weather Service said.
