RI Weather: NWS Issues Hazardous Weather Outlook For Northern RI

For most of the state, though, the rain is expected to hold off until Saturday.

WOONSOCKET, RI — The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for tonight for northern Rhode Island but cancelled one Friday night for the entire state. (Also cancelled is a hazardous weather outlook for rip tides and high surf, particularly on south-facing beaches.) But an alert has been issued for northern Rhode Island for tonight and for Friday and Saturday afternoon and evening.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for northern Connecticut, western and central Massachusetts, and northern Rhode Island.

There is the potential for a few strong to severe thunderstorms,
some with excessive rainfall that may bring a risk for localized
flooding especially in urban corridors through late this evening.
Locally strong to damaging wind gusts are also possible.

Friday and Saturday...

There is the potential for a few strong to severe thunderstorms
during the afternoon and evening hours each day. Some of the storms
may produce heavy rainfall that may bring a risk for localized
flooding especially in urban corridors. Locally strong to damaging
wind gusts are also possible.
