Scholarships Available From GFWC Women's Club Of South County

Applications Being Accepted Until April 1

Applications are being accepted from now until April 1, 2021, for scholarships aimed at helping women in southern Rhode Island achieve educational and career goals. Each year the Women’s Club of South County (an affiliate of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs and of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs Rhode Island) awards scholarships ranging from hundreds to thousands of dollars to selected applicants who are enrolled in, or accepted in, an accredited educational program leading to a degree (associate or bachelor’s) or a certificate required to practice a career or vocation. All funds are distributed directly to the educational institution for tuition costs only.
To qualify, an applicant must be a woman at least age 19 by the date of the application, with a high school diploma or GED. She must also be a resident of Washington County (Charlestown, Exeter, Hopkinton, Narragansett, New Shoreham/Block Island, North Kingstown, Richmond, South Kingstown, or Westerly), exhibit financial need, and be enrolled, or accepted, in an accredited educational program and working toward a first degree (associate or bachelor’s) or in a career/vocational training or certificate program. To learn more and to obtain an application, visit the club’s website at www.gfwcri.org, select South County, and click on “Scholarship Program.” If you have any questions, call 401-287-4392 or email admin@GFWCRISouthCounty.org.
The Women’s Club of South County, a nonprofit 501 (c) (3) organization, has been awarding scholarships since 1997 using funds raised primarily through its signature event: Book & Author: Live on Zoom!, which will be held on May 19th at 1:00 pm. Tickets to this exciting event will be available April 15 - go to https://gfwcri.org/book-and-author-luncheon for ticket and event information. The club welcomes new members who want to give back to the community through volunteer work. Find out more by calling or emailing or visiting our website.
