SK Man Charged With DUI After Rollover

South Kingstown Man Charged With Drunken Driving

Scott R. Deutsch, 28, of 61 Old Usquepaugh Road, Apt. #A, South Kingstown, was arrested at about 1:10 a.m. on March 27 and charged with drunken driving and cited for refusing to submit to a chemical test.

According to police, they received a 911 call for a single car rollover near the intersection of Usquepaugh and Old Usquepaugh Road.

Police said they made contact with the driver – Deutsch – who told them that he swerved when he saw a deer in the road. Police said there was an open bottle of alcohol on the roof of the car, and when asked about his alcohol consumption, Deutsch allegedly told police he had had five beers.

According to police, Deutsch consented to field sobriety tests, which he failed. He was arrested without incident and transported to headquarters for processing. Police said that during processing, Deutsch refused to submit to chemical breath tests.

Police said that following processing, they noted a bump on Deutsch’s head, and asked paramedics to treat it. Police said Deutsch initially refused a transport to South County Hospital, but eventually consented at about 2:50 a.m.

South Kingstown Woman Arrested for Warrant

Billie Jo Gaudlap, 38, of 124 Lewis Lane, South Kingstown, was arrested at about 1:45 a.m. on March 27. Police said a Fourth Division District Court warrant was out for Gaudlap’s arrest.

According to police, an officer on patrol at the Broad Rock playing fields noted a car parked there, on with its lights off. Police said a background check on the occupants revealed the warrant for Gaudlap’s arrest.

Police said Gaudlap was arrested without incident. She was held for arraignment at 9 a.m. at Fourth Division District Court.
