SK Man Charged With Sexual Assault by Charlestown PD

South Kingstown police pick up Robert J. Brown, 72, for a Charlestown police warrant for five counts of sexual assault.

Robert J. Brown, 72, of 681 Kingstown Road, Apt. #225, South Kingstown, was arrested at about 4 p.m. on April 12. South Kingstown police said a Charlestown police warrant was out for Brown’s arrest.

According to police, at the 3 p.m. shift change officers were notified of a warrant out for Brown’s arrest. Police said that he was located at his home at about 3:50 p.m. and then arrested without incident.

Police said Brown was held at headquarters until he was picked up by Charlestown police at about 5:38 p.m. Charlestown police charged him with two counts of first degree sexual assault, and three counts of second degree sexual assault.

According to online records, a status conference is scheduled for April 24. Based on online records, Brown does not have any previous arrests.

Following a court hearing on April 12, a judge ordered that he held without bail, and he remains at the ACI in Cranston according to the prison’s online database.
