SK Police Charge 2 With DWIs

East Greenwich Man Charged With Drunken Driving

Lee Joseph M. Cullion, 21, of 8 Brookefield Court, East Greenwich, was arrested at about 1:24 a.m. on Feb. 13 and charged with drunken driving, and cited for refusing to submit to a chemical test.

According to police, an officer traveling on Matunuck Beach Road noted the car in front of it driving without taillights. The officer also said the car almost hit snowbanks on the side of the road several times, and a traffic stop was made on Route 1 after the car was clocked at 35 miles per hour in a 50 mile per hour zone.

Police said that when Cullion – the driver – was asked for his registration and insurance card, he couldn’t provide it, claiming that it wasn’t his car and he was the designated driver. Police noted that Cullion smelled strongly of alcohol, and a passenger – the car’s owner – was so intoxicated she could not locate her registration at first.

According to police, Cullion consented to field sobriety tests, which he failed. They noted that he was passive aggressive during and after his arrest, and repeatedly claimed that he was the designated driver.

Police said the four other passengers in the car were also too intoxicated to drive it home. As a result, they were given a ride to Narragansett, and the car was towed.

According to police, Cullion was uncooperative during booking, and said he refused to be photographed or fingerprinted, or to sign the refusal form for the chemical test, without his attorney’s approval. Police noted that Cullion had been allowed to make a phone call before his booking. Police said Cullion maintained that he hadn’t had anything to drink the entire night.

Police said Cullion was processed and then released at about 3:46 a.m.

South Kingstown Man Charged With Drunken Driving

Michael A. Robinson, 46, of 480 High St., Apt. #A1, South Kingstown, was arrested at about 12:45 a.m. on Feb. 13 and charged with drunken driving and driving with a suspended license.

According to police, an officer traveling on Route 1 noted a blue Dodge Caravan swerving near the Camp Fuller exit. As a result, a traffic stop was made near the Tuckertown exit.

Police said the driver – Robinson – smelled strongly of alcohol, and an open Bud Lite was in a cupholder near him. Police said Robinson was apologetic, but failed field sobriety tests and was arrested.

According to police, Robinson consented with a chemical breath test, which revealed a blood alcohol level of .084 at 1:21 a.m. and 1:23 a.m. Police said a background check revealed that Robinson’s license was suspended

Police said Robinson was processed at headquarters and then released at about 3:10 a.m.

South Kingstown Man Arrested For Trio of Warrants

Gary Barnes, 56, of 215 Columbia St., South Kingstown, was arrested at about 9:45 a.m. on Feb. 13. Police said two Superior Court warrants were out for Barners’ arrest, along with a Fourth Division District Court warrant.

According to police, officers familiar with Barnes from previous arrests saw him walking near the Peace Dale Rotary. A background check confirmed the warrants, and he was arrested without incident.

Police said Barnes was transferred to Fourth Division District Court for processing at about 10:30 a.m.

According to online records, Barnes has more than a dozen arrests, dating back to 1982. Most stem from breaking and entering, assault and forgery charges.
