SK Police Log: November 24 and 25, 2012

Providence Man Charged with Drunken Driving

Zachary G. Zito, 24, of 141 Hillcrest Ave., Providence, was arrested at about 1:31 a.m. on Nov. 25 and charged with drunken driving, and cited for refusing to submit to a chemical test.

According to police, an officer noted a black Jeep Cherokee swerving and traveling 45 miles per hour in a 25 mile per hour zone on Kingstown Road just south of Route 138. A traffic stop was made on Mooresfield Road near Old Rose Hill Road.

Police said that Zito smelled of alcohol and appeared sluggish. Police said that when he was asked to submit to field sobriety tests, Zito told them, “I’d rather just take the refusal.”

According to police, Zito was arrested without incident, transported to headquarters, processed and then released at about 4 a.m. Police noted that he refused to submit to a chemical breath test at headquarters.

Wakefield Man Arrested for Warrant

Justin Curtis Raymond, 27, of 24 Uncle Sam’s Lane, Wakefield, was arrested at about 1:10 a.m. on Nov. 24. Police said a Fourth Division District Court warrant was out for Raymond’s arrest stemming from a South Kingstown police charge of driving with a suspended license.

According to police, a traffic stop was made on a car for laned roadway violations on Kingstown Road near Meadowbrook Way. Police said a background check of the car’s occupants revealed that Raymond, a passenger, had a warrant out for his arrest.

Police arrested Raymond without incident, and because he couldn’t come up with $495 in bail, he was transported to the ACI at about 4 a.m.
