Slocum Woman Charged With Faking Prescription
More charges are filed against Melissa Clark, 43, for obtaining prescriptions illegally, police say.

Melissa Clark, 43, of 240 Railroad Ave., Slocum, was arrested at about 10:15 a.m. on Sept. 10 and charged with a felony – false representation to obtain a controlled substance.
According to police, on Sept. 5 they were told by a pharmacist at Rite Aid that she had received a call from a nurse practitioner, claiming that Clark was a former employee and writing out prescriptions for herself.

Police confirmed that Clark had gotten the prescriptions filled on Sept. 3 via a witness statement, and spoke with the nurse practitioner on Sept. 6.
Based on previous arrests, police were familiar with Clark’s attorney, and called him to arrange an arrest of Clark.

She turned herself in on Sept. 10, and was transported to Fourth Division District Court that same day for arraignment. Felony screening is scheduled for Oct. 23.
In March 2012, Clark was arrested by South Kingstown police and charged with similar offenses. Jurisdiction of the case transferred to Narragansett.
According to online records, Clark has a bail violation hearing and pre-trial hearing on Sept. 27 stemming from the March arrest. On Sept. 17, she was rejected as a candidate for diversion.
Clark has one previous arrest, according to online records. In February 2005, she pleaded no contest to a Warwick police charge of drunken driving. She was ordered to pay a fine and restitution, to surrender her loss for four months, to complete 20 hours of community service and DWI treatment.
