SOUTH KINGSTOWN, RI — The regional coronavirus vaccination site in Wakefield will close in the coming weeks, town officials said. The South Road School center will close its doors April 11.

"The South Road vaccine clinic completed its mission under the guidance of the Rhode Island Department of Health, vaccinating the 75 plus age population," the town of South Kingstown said in a statement.

South County residents will still have a vaccine site nearby. The state-run site at Schneider Electric, which opened last weekend, will expand operations following the Wakefield closure to 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Appointments can be scheduled for this site on the state's vaccine portal.
