Supplemental Gansett Police Reports: August 6 to August 16, 2012

Unless otherwise noted, information about the following incidents was supplied by the Narragansett Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

These reports were procured via records requests. The arrests were not included in the originally printed media packet, either because of ongoing investigations, vacations for commanding officers or mistakenly by oversight.

Narragansett Man Charged With Domestic Offenses

Patrick O. Brady, 32, of 13 Courtland Drive, Narragansett, was arrested at about 11:17 p.m. on Aug. 6 and charged with domestic disorderly conduct and domestic vandalism.

According to police, a dispatcher received a report of an argument and breaking glass coming from a home on Courtland Drive at about 11:02 p.m.

Police said when they arrived, Brady was standing in front of the home. Police noted that a Volkswagen in the driveway had a dent in the driver’s side door and a shattered front windshield, and a woman could be heard crying inside the home.

According to police, the woman told them that she and Brady had been arguing throughout the night, with the situation escalating when he broke the front windshield of the car.

Brady allegedly gave police a similar account of the night’s events. He was arrested without incident, processed and then released at about 3 a.m.

South Kingstown Man Arrested for Warrant

Mason J. Everett, 33, of 2699 Kingstown Road, Apt. #1B, South Kingstown, was arrested at about 9:06 a.m. on Aug. 6. Police said three warrants were out for Everett’s arrest.

According to police, an officer patrolling near Stop and Shop passed by the RIPTA stop at about 9 a.m. As he did, the officer noted that one man – Everett – immediately retreated into the store.

Police said that based on the suspicious activity by Everett, they later questioned him near Marshall’s at about 9:06 a.m. At that time, a background check revealed warrants out for his arrest. He was arrested and then transferred to South Kingstown Police Headquarters at about 10:50 a.m.

According to police, one warrant was from South Kingstown for a charge of domestic assault, which was elevated to a felony because it was a third offense. The two other warrants were issued by the Fourth Division District Court, after Everett allegedly did not appear at court hearing.

(Another) South Kingstown Man Arrested for Warrant

Gardner K. Gardiner, 25, of 81 North Road, South Kingstown, was arrested at about 11:55 p.m. on Aug. 7. Police said a Fourth Division District Court warrant was out for Gardiner’s arrest for failing to appear at a hearing on Aug. 3 related to a South Kingstown police charge of domestic assault.

According to police, an officer familiar with Gardiner from previous arrests saw him driving on Point Judith Road and knew a warrant was out for his arrest. A traffic stop was made, Gardiner’s identity was confirmed, and he was arrested without incident.

Police noted that there were three juveniles in the car at the time of Gardiner’s arrest. Family members were notified, and a relative of Gardiner drove the car from the scene. Gardiner was held overnight for arraignment at Fourth Division District Court at 9 a.m. on Aug. 8.

Worcester Man Arrested for Warrant

Milton Apostol Reyes, 28, of 93 Providence St., Apt. #3, Worcester, MA, was arrested at about 6:52 p.m. on Aug. 16. Police said a Third Division District Court warrant was out for Reyes’ arrest for failing to appear at a court hearing.

According to police, an officer monitoring traffic near Camp Cronin ran the plate of Reyes’ car when it parked in the lot. The officer noted that the registered owner of the car – Reyes – had a warrant out for his arrest.

Police spoke to Reyes, confirmed his identity and arrested him without incident. He was transported to the ACI at about 1:57 a.m. on Aug. 17, after failing to raise bail money.

Narragansett Man Cited for Suspended License

Derick R. Machado, 26, of 14 Tupelo Trail, Narragansett, was cited at about 11:21 p.m. on Aug. 15 and charged with driving with a suspended license.

According to police, an officer traveling on Boston Neck Road near Anawan Drive saw a car ahead of him swerving. A traffic stop was made near the Overlook Development Center.

Police said a background check of the driver – Machado – revealed that his license was suspended on June 26 for failing to pay an out of state traffic ticket.

Machado’s license was confiscated as a result, and he was cited for the violation. A family member arrived a short time later and drove his car from the scene.

Lincoln Woman Cited for Suspended License

Darlene A. Rochon, 42, of 123 Elder St., Lincoln, was cited at about 8:10 p.m. on Aug. 16 and charged with driving with a suspended license.

According to police, an officer waiting at a red light at the intersection of Point Judith Road and Knowlesway noted a black Chevrolet Cobalt driven by Rochon run a red light as his light turned green. A traffic stop was made near Fisherman’s Memorial Campground.

Police said a background check revealed that Rochon’s license was suspended in June 2011 for failing to pay a fine for an inspection sticker violation. Rochon’s license was confiscated, and she was cited for the violation and for running a red light.

A passenger in the car with a valid license drove it from the scene.
