Suspect to Girlfriend: ‘See You In A Couple of Years!’

David Harpool, 24, tells his girlfriend, "See you in a couple of years!" at the time of his arrest, police say.

Unless otherwise noted, information about the following incidents was supplied by the South Kingstown Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

David C. Harpool, 24, of 149 Hamilton Ave., Jamestown, was arrested at about 8:20 p.m. on April 10 and charged with felony drug distribution and two counts of felony drug possession.

According to police, officers working a security detail at the Day Glow concert saw Harpool conduct a hand-to-hand sale with an unknown man in the Plains Road parking lot.

As a result, police said they approached Harpool and asked him what was in a backpack in his car. Police said that as they took the backpack from the car, Harpool told a woman in the car, “I love you! Oh my god! I’ll see you in a couple of years!”

According to police, when they again asked Harpool what was in the backpack, he told them, “Some mushrooms, a lot.”

Police said an inventory of the backpack revealed about an ounce of mushrooms, eight small baggies of marijuana and two baggies of hashish. Police said Harpool also turned over two small baggies of methamphetamine, and $659 in cash was confiscated.

According to police, Harpool was arrested following the search. Police said that while being transported to headquarters, Harpool told them, “I sell weed, everybody sells weed.”

Police said Harpool was processed and held for arraignment at Fourth Division District Court at 11 a.m. on April 11.
