Town Of South Kingstown: Town Begins Energy Efficient Street Light Conversion Project

The Department of Public Services is overseeing conversion of streetlights from high pressure sodium (HPS) to energy efficient light emitting diode (LED) technology. The Town streetlighting conversion contractor (SIEMENS Technology) commenced streetlighting conversion on State roads and will then transition to Town roads once State roads are completed.   Streetlights on State roads will eventually be turned over to the RI Department of Transportation (RIDOT) once State road streetlights are converted to the LED technology.

The entire project is expected to take until the end of July, weather permitting, to complete. Residents interested in learning more about this event/occurrence are encouraged to contact the Department of Public Services at 401-789-9331 x2250.
