[VIDEO] Rebels Win JV Title 3-0 Against Oakers
South Kingstown gets two goals from Michael Gross in a 3-0 win against Coventry in the JV boys' soccer title game.
SOUTH KINGSTOWN – The Rebels controlled the midfield and time of possession for a 3-0 win in the junior varsity boys’ soccer title game against Coventry Wednesday night at Curtis Corner Middle School.
South Kingstown scored first, with 11:50 left in the second half. Freshman Aiden McCaughey got to a 50-50 ball before the Coventry goalkeeper, and poked the ball past the keeper and defenders.
Immediately after his kick, McCaughey was knocked to the ground, a sign of things to come for both teams. The play was physical throughout, with referees telling players to play on, as most of the contact didn’t lead to advantages.
