VINTAGE FUN AND GAMES AT GENERAL STANTON INN FLEA MARKET CAN REJUVENATE BOTH THE BODY AND THE MIND

Did you know that Flea Markets--and Charlestown's General Stanton Inn Flea Market, in particular, can be good for your health? (And maybe even make you laugh, like you did when you were a kid?!)

Sure, there's the healthy "walk in the park" part of our outdoor Sunday Flea Market, set on the tree-lined, sea-breezed grounds of the historic General Stanton Inn (est 1667), in coastal Charlestown R.I...

Yet, beyond that, the inherent fun of the treasure hunt--the sense of play (that comes into play at our Flea Market), can also be "serious business" for rejuvenating both your body AND spirit. Some scientific health studies have shown that for adults, "play" can reduce stress, temporarily relieve pain and can also stimulate the mind and memory!

That's all because, while adventuring around the field at our Charlestown Flea this Sunday, for say, some of your childhood games, like "Rock-Em-Sock-Em-Robots" or "Twister," your body's "feel-good-chemicals"--endorphins--start bubbling up--and just might leave you feeling like a kid again...

Writer George Bernard Shaw, wisely reminds us:"We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing."

At The General Stanton Flea Market this Sunday (8 a.m.-3 p.m.), you and your fellow family and friend fleamates, can gleefully engage in rediscovering lost childhood memories. (Sure, you DO have the time to take a Field Trip for Grownups...and/or, bring those natural Play Experts--your children--along with you!)

Will you find your Mother's Cookie Jar--the one with the clanging cover you were adept at sound-muffling?!)

Or... will you run right into the ottoman that sat at the foot of your Father's favorite chair?(...As you often did, too?!)

Remember the birthday or holiday when your parent/s finally gave the green light to those "Moon Shoes" you'd been mooning over?...or that expensive, expert, microscope set, which they thought you weren't mentally equipped for, yet? (Wow, did you show them, or what?!) Ahhh...it's all part of the game, the "thrill of the hunt"...

At The General Stanton Inn Flea Market, you can delight in recreating childhood memories and marvel at some of the vendors' vintage toys currently for sale: the 1950s "Marvelous Mike Tractor"(which is actually a bulldozer, with a robot at the controls).../ a turn-of-the-century table croquet set (or "parlor croquet," from the parlance of that day)/ a 1930s board game romp, "3 Men on a Horse"/ and a 5-in-1, table pinball game, "Poosh-M-Up," featuring baseball, football and horse racing.

Promise yourself you won't put jollification on vacation, just because you've advanced into adulthood?!

Come out to play at The General Stanton Inn Flea Market in Charlestown....And let the fun...and the games...begin!
