Wakefield Brickley's Ice Cream To Reopen March 18
The store closed suddenly in the middle of the 2020 season due to issues with customers not following safety regulations and yelling.

WAKEFIELD, RI — A sure sign the spring is coming to Southern Rhode Island: Brickley's Ice Cream is set to reopen within a month. The popular local business announced that the Wakefield store is scheduled to kick off the 2021 season March 18.
Brickley's has two locations: the High Street store in Wakefield and the second in Narragansett. The Boston Neck Road store will open "in early May," the owners announced on their website, after more members of the college-age staff return home.
This year, the Wakefield location will offer both walk-up and online ordering options, a message on the company's website said. More information about operations will come closer to the opening date.

2020 was a difficult season for Brickley's, which saw the Wakefield location suddenly close for the year in July following a series of incidents with customers. According to the business's owners, staff were repeatedly verbally abused by customers who refused to wear masks or follow other COVID-19 safety regulations to avoid crowding on the patio.
"This is unacceptable and is becoming unsafe for both our staff and customers," read a post on Facebook. "We have a limited and young staff at our Wakefield store and must keep them safe."

The decision was made to keep only the Narragansett store open for the remainder of the season because its larger size better accommodated the crowds, and more senior staff members were on hand to help handle any future issues with rowdy customers.
"Looking forward to seeing you all once again," Brickley's website currently reads.
