Wakefield Woman Sings Anthem at Major Sports Events

Angelica Salem has performed at a National Football League game and at several National Basketball Association games.

SOUTH KINGSTOWN, RI—Angelica Salem, of Wakefield, sang the National Anthem at the recent New York Giants game against the Detroit Lions.

She is studying at Pace University, where she is an honor student, pursuing her dream of a stage and screen career.

It's not the first time she's performed at a major sports event, according to East Greenwich's Bruce Mastracchio.

"Most recently, she sang the National Anthem at a Chicago Bulls game," he said. "It was the fourth time she has performed it there."

She is the daughter of Mary Salem, of Wakefield, formerly of West Warwick, and the late Norman Salem. Her Grandparents, Orland Savastano, former Athletic Director for the city of Cranston, and his wife Maureen, also live in Wakefield.

"Angelica has been studying vocals, acting and dance since she was in elementary school. She has had the pleasure of working with award winning recording artist and producer, Wyclef Jean, and has released original songs and musical videos of her own, including 'Drop A House,'," he said.
