Musician Billy Mitchell announces the release of his fifth CD, Boomer Power

“As if being a child of the sixties isn't enough, navigating these digitally driven, smart phone fueled, social media mania times provided more than enough inspiration for Boomer Power,” Mitchell said.

The 18 tracks contain the usual mix of satire and sentiment that characterizes Mitchell’s music, with titles like “Assisted Livin,’” “You Still Got it,” “Re-Tired,” “Gettin’ Old Ain’t for Sissies,” “Some Thing,” “Prescription Drugs,” “I Wish I Could Remember What I Said I'd Never Forget” and many more.

According to Bill Copeland Music Notes, Boomer Power is "a treat to anybody from Mitchell's' generation. This CD could be a double record set with large pictures on the front and back covers as well as the centerfold. Yet, Mitchell has found a way to paint his own pictures, because he describes them so vividly. It's also easy to feel the frustrations, losses, victories, and joys he sings of because he relates them with a keen narrator's eye."

Mark S. Tucker of AcousticMusic.com says, "Boomer Power's one of those discs residing halfway between ‘incorrect music’ and Doctor Demento, and this CD's gonna appeal to rednecks, aging hippies,  people collecting DIY populist art, and anyone who can't locate enough comedy music, myself among 'em."

Concert Series Planned

The CD is also the centerpiece for a series of live shows entitled Boomer Tunes Concerts that are available to boomer-minded organizations, communities and individuals as a fund raising vehicle or just pure entertainment.

More information can be found at www.BoomerTunesConcerts.com.

Benefiting Rhode Island Hospital

Although the album was released to radio in November, local release of Boomer Power and The Boomer Tunes Concert Series was delayed due to quintuple bypass open heart surgery Mitchell underwent at Rhode Island Hospital.

"Payment for a freewheeling lifestyle finally came due, but thanks to an incredible Cardiac Care Team, there's another chapter left in this book, not to mention material for more songs," Mitchell said.

Consequently a fund has been established with a portion of all proceeds from Boomer Power CD sales and Boomer Tunes Concerts going forward to benefit the Cardiac Care Unit at Rhode Island Hospital.

CD Release Party

After a full recovery, a CD Release party for Boomer Power will held at the Brooklyn Tea and Coffee House in Providence on Saturday, April 20 at 8 p.m.
