What's Open What's Closed On Victory Day?

Monday, August 13 is Victory Day, a state holiday in Rhode Island. But it's not a federal holiday, so there will be mail delivery.

NARRAGANSETT, RI— Monday, August 13 is Victory Day, a state holiday in Rhode Island. The Ocean State is the only state that still celebrates Victory over Japan in World War II. The senior centers will be closed, along with public libraries, and municipal offices, including Town and City halls. Meals on Wheels also will be closed.

Trolley and regular buses run by the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will operate on a Sunday/Holiday service schedule.

The holiday is not a recognized national holiday, so federal offices, including U.S. Postal Mail Service, will be open.

Here's what's opened and closed on Monday, Aug. 13, 2018:
Beaches: Open, but charging weekend parking rates.
RIPTA Bus Service: A limited holiday schedule is in effect.
Town/City Hall: closed, with no meetings held Monday.
Senior Centers: closed
Public Libraries: closed
SubscribeU.S. Post Office: open
Banks: vary Call your branch.
Stop & Shop: open Citizens Bank inside the grocery store is open from 11-3
Shaw's Supermarket: open
CVS: open
Rite-Aid: open
Walgreens: open
Retail stores: Most corporate retail store chains are open, but it's recommended to call ahead to the locally owned stores.
Restaurants, Fast-Food and Pubs: Most establishments typically open on Mondays are open today, however some may have special holiday hours.

Liquor Stores: Most are open.
