3-Alarm Fire Roars Through North Kingstown Shipyard
The fire broke out in the Wickford Shipyard around 4 a.m.

NORTH KINGSTOWN, RI — A three-alarm fire raged through a North Kingstown shipyard early Tuesday morning. Firefighters from several nearby communities were called in to assist.
According to the North Kingstown Fire Chief Scott Kettelle, the fire broke out in the Wickford Shipyard at 125 Steamboat Ave. around 4 a.m. When crews arrived on scene, heavy smoke was pouring out of the building's upper floors, making it difficult for firefighters to get inside.
Additional crews from Warwick, West Warwick, Narragansett, East Greenwich, South Kingstown and Exeter were called in to help fight the blaze. Fire boats from the Narragansett Bay Marine Taskforce were also brought in to assist.

According to WPRI, the building's roof and sides collapsed a few hours hours later, rendering the building a complete loss.
No injuries have been reported, Chief Kettelle said. Residents in the Poplar Point area are encouraged to be careful and watch out for street closures.
