3rd Domestic For NK Man Dismissed

Christopher Turenne, 37, of 65 Ewing Road, North Kingstown, pleaded no contest on April 16 to a North Kingstown police charge of disorderly conduct.
Turenne was ordered to serve six months probation and a six-month suspended sentence, and to pay $90 in assessments. An additional charge of felony domestic assault was dismissed, and a no-contact order between Turenne and a North Kingstown woman was dismissed.

According to North Kingstown police reports included in court files, the victim told them that a fight started between her and Turenne when he threw a candy bowl at her during a verbal argument. The victim told police that Turenne then threatened to kill her.
Police said Turenne was arrested without incident at the time.

According to online records, Turenne has 10 previous arrests:
- In October 2011, an East Greenwich police charge of being a fugitive from justice was dismissed.
- Also in October 2011, a North Kingstown police charge of being a fugitive from justice was dismissed.
- In January 2009, Turenne pleaded no contest to two West Warwick police charges of assault, and one charge of vandalism. He was ordered to serve a year of probation and a year-long suspended sentence, to complete 25 hours of community service and alcohol counseling, and to pay restitution. An additional charge of disorderly conduct was dismissed.
- In October 2005, Turenne pleaded no contest to Rhode Island State Police charges emanating from the Lincoln barracks of impersonating a police office and assault. He was ordered to serve four months at the ACI, followed by 2.5 years probation and a 2.5-year suspended sentence.
- In February 2005, Turenne pleaded no contest to a West Warwick police charge of driving with a suspended license. He was ordered to pay court costs.
- In March 2001, Turenne pleaded no contest to a Rhode Island State Police charge emanating from the Wickford barracks of possession of a weapon other than a firearm. He was ordered to complete a year of probation and a year-long suspended sentence.
- In March 1999, Turenne pleaded no contest to a West Warwick police charge of domestic assault. He was ordered to complete domestic abuse counseling, and to serve a year of probation and a year-long suspended sentence.
- In March 1998, a Lincoln police charge of driving a vehicle without insurance was dismissed.
- In August 1996, Turenne pleaded no contest to a Woonsocket police charge of larceny under $500. He was ordered to pay restitution, and to serve a year of probation and a year-long suspended sentence.
- In February 1996, Turenne pleaded no contest to Lincoln police charges of malicious property destruction, obstruction of justice and driving with a suspended license. He was ordered to serve a year of probation and a year-long suspended sentence.
