NORTH KINGSTOWN, RI — Three days after reporting a positive coronavirus test, Allie's Donuts in North Kingstown is almost ready to reopen, the shop announced Monday.

The popular donut spot closed its doors suddenly Friday after someone "in the tight-knit community surrounding the Allie’s Donuts Family" tested positive asymptomatically.

"We have decided to sacrifice all the good that comes from making donuts in order to ensure the safety of our staff members and our customers," the owner wrote on Facebook. "We support our staff and their families as much as we can, and make this tough decision knowing that health and safety are priority number one."
