Air Quality Alert For Washington County: RI Weather

State health officials are issuing an air quality alert for Washington and Newport counties, due to ozone levels.

NARRAGANSETT, RI — The state Department of Environmental Management has issued an air quality alert for Thursday for Washington County. The heat and sunshine will push ozone levels up into the unhealthy range, DEM said. Here is the forecast.

A very warm day on tap for Thursday with mostly full sunshine and highs to near 90F. Flows from the west will shift more WSW and will be favorable for UNHEALTHY ozone formation, with the highest readings right along the immediate southern coastline. Flows on Friday shift more southerly, with a bit more cloudiness, and a chance of showers, which should keep ozone in the MODERATE range. An approaching front and low on Saturday, a bit cooler, with winds shifting to a northerly direction and GOOD air quality.
