Chafee Nature Preserve In NK To Close Thursday, Friday
National Grid will be cutting brush and trees near the power lines, the state Department of Environmental Management said.

NORTH KINGSTOWN, RI—National Grid crews are set to fire up the saws Thursday and Friday at the John H. Chafee Nature Preserve. According to the state Department of Environmental Management, the area will be off limits Nov. 15 and Nov. 16 while workers clear brush and cut down tree limbs blocking the power lines.
Crews will also take down dead oak trees that pose a hazard to the power lines and will do work on the main hiking trail.
The company in 2001 donated the waterfront property, which encompasses 230 acres on Boston Neck Road in North Kingstown. But National Grid kept a right of way.
