Firefighters Fight Blaze At North Kingstown Biology Center

The fire at Biomes Marine Biology Center Thursday night

NORTH KINGSTOWN, RI — Officials are investigating a fire that started at the Biomes Marine Biology Center on Post Road in North Kingstown Thursday night, reported WPRI 12.

Firefighters responded to the blaze that broke out at approximately 8 p.m.The fire was quickly extinguished and did not cause any serious damage to the facility.

The owner of the facility, Mark Hall, told WPRI 12 that the animals were unharmed. However, the building will be closed for several days for cleanup purposes.

NBC 10 reported that the fire may have started in a tank light.
