Lafayette Band 'Children's Favorites' concert set for July 17

Performance at Town Beach will feature songs from "Mary Poppins," "Lion King," "Moana" and other productions popular with all ages.

The Lafayette Band of North Kingstown will perform a “Children’s Favorites” concert on Wednesday, July 17, at 7 p.m. at the Lafayette Band Stand, North Kingstown Town Beach, Beach St., off Rt. 1A. The free program will feature songs from "Mary Poppins," "Lion King," "Moana" and other productions popular with all ages.

The musicians are led by conductor Bethany Clarke Bromley. Audience members are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets for seating. In case of rain, the concert will be moved indoors to the Community Center at the Town Beach.

The band also has concerts scheduled at the beach each Wednesday through August 7, starting at 7 p.m.

The Lafayette Band is a nonprofit community concert band with a mission to strengthen North Kingstown and surrounding communities through music. Founded more than 135 years ago, it is one of the oldest bands in Rhode Island. Though based in North Kingstown, the band’s members reside in many communities in Southeast New England.
