The Lafayette Band of North Kingstown will open its 2019 summer concert series on Wednesday, June 26, at 6:30 p.m. at the North Kingstown Free Library, 100 Boone St. The program will feature patriotic and classical music, show tunes, marches and more. Audience members are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets for seating.

The series will consist of seven free outdoor concerts on Wednesday evenings. That includes the band's traditional Independence Day show followed by fireworks – scheduled this year for July 3 – and a performance with the North Kingstown Community Chorus.

Led by conductor Bethany Clarke Bromley, the Lafayette Band is a nonprofit community concert band with a mission to strengthen North Kingstown and surrounding communities through music. Founded more than 135 years ago, it is one of the oldest bands in Rhode Island. Though based in North Kingstown, the band’s members reside in many communities in Southeast New England.
