Camp For Kids Who Wouldn't Get Camp

Camp Wannagoagain is a camp like any other. Yet it is not. For one thing, there are lots more counselors. And many of the campers have a "counselor" with them the length of the camp day.

Rep. Doreen Costa (R-North Kingstown) was denounced by colleague Rep. Art Handy (D-Cranston) Thursday for her suggestion earlier this week that Bishop Tobin punish Catholic legislators who stray from church doctrine. Costa said she was misrepresented.

Friday, Aug. 2, 8:46 a.m. – The business manager of Signature Pool and Spas on Pleasant Valley Road told police some cash and checks were unaccounted for from sales that took place on July 25. She discovered the money was missing July 29, when she took receipts for the past week to the bank, but did not report it until now because she thought the money from July 25 may have been misplaced. Police talked to employees, none of whom said anything suspicious had taken place during the week. The manager said there were no signs of forced entry.

As the start of school gets ever closer — North Kingstown schools are scheduled to start on Aug. 27 — it will soon be time to check on this year's bus routes.

After years of practically no cost to the town to house fire maintenance equipment, the Town Council voted last week to enter into a 10-year, $1.2 million lease with the Quonset Development Corp. for what’s known as the Bostitch building on Callahan Road.

Now that there is a sewer line running from just north of Wickford up to Quonset, the question becomes, how much to charge businesses and residences along the route to tie in.

Sunday, July 28, 1:53 p.m. – Police arrested Paul Robert Gerencser, 39, of Weatherside Road, Cheshire, Conn., for domestic assault and disorderly conduct, after allegedly hitting his girlfriend in the face and pouring a can of soda in her lap while she was driving them across the Jamestown Bridge into North Kingstown.
