Many Faces Of Mango: Pet Refuge's Pet Of The Week

Mango, a 6-month old orange tabby, has a lot of energy and needs a fun forever home.

The many faces of Mango- this week’s Pet Of The Week! This little guy right here is a riot! Mango (aka Mango-Fandango/OJ/Little Monster and/or Bitey-Boy) is a six month old orange tabby with A LOT of energy. You can usually find him racing down kennels after a feather toy or trying to convince one of the older cats to wrestle with him. Mango came to the Refuge as a six week old kitten when his owners decided they couldn’t keep him. Their daughter had brought him home from a friend and the family realized after only a few days that they were not ready for the responsibility that comes with raising a little kitten. They also had a boxer in the house who played much too rough with him and they did not want him to get hurt. As a result, Mango now loves to roughhouse. On top of that, he was taken away from his mother and siblings much too early and was encouraged with “improper hand-play”- something that may seem cute when they are a tiny kitten but can be really difficult to break them of as they get older. We discourage him from being too rough by substituting hands with stuffed animals and other plush toys that he seems to like. The ideal applicant for Mango must love: roughhousing and have no young children. He would love to have another cat or dog in the home who like to play as much as he does. He can be too much for some of the more laid back cats here at the shelter so it must be someone that can match his energy level. Won’t you be the pot of gold at the end of his rainbow this St. Patrick’s Day?
