N. Kingstown Arts Council Announces Coronavirus Memorial Project
The memorial will be on display on the lawn at the Old Meeting House on Boone Street from June 6 to December 1
NORTH KINGSTOWN, RI — The North Kingstown Arts Council and local artist Nancy Rafi have announced the launch of a COVID-19 memorial project that will honor those who lost their lives during the pandemic.
The memorial will be on display on the lawn at the Old Meeting House on Boone Street from June 6 to December 1 and include garden flags that have the name, age, date of death, and a photo of each resident that died from COVID-19.
"Since the beginning of 2020, our nation has had to carry the unspeakable loss of hundreds of thousands of our citizens due to COVID-19," said the council in a project announcement. "With this pandemic it has been impossible for us to gather and share our rituals of honoring and remembering those we have lost. So how does a community come together safely to process unfathomable grief?"
