Nature Conservancy Will Open New Preserve in November
King Preserve is not ready yet, and some of the trails are still works in progress. But the plan is to open in November, Tim Mooney says.

NORTH KINGSTOWN, RI – King Preserve will open to the public in November, according to Tim Mooney, of The Nature Conservancy.
The property was formerly used by the Girl Scouts as Camp Nokewa.
"Last year, the Nature Conservancy acquired the 161-acre forested property in North Kingstown near the headwaters of the Narrow River," Mooney said.

At the time, the Patch reported "historic cart paths on the property will be used to establish a hiking trail system. Access will be from Boston Neck and Snuff Mill Roads."
Since then, the work has included completing those trails so people could walk to the shore of Pettaquamscutt River and providing parking, as well as signage.

"We are planning a formal announcement and preserve opening for November, once our new signage is installed," Mooney said.
The parking and trail head will be located on Boston Neck Road, near Casey Farm.
But it's not quite ready yet, he said.
"The trails north of the brook are still under development," he said, and the parking on Snuff Mill Road is also not yet available.
But the paper trail map shows the area. King Preserve adjoins the Narrow River Land Trust’s Benson Property, and "technically," he said, they are separate properties.
"But they are side-by-side and represented as a single conservation area on the map," he said. The Nature Conservancy and the Land Trust plan to manage both parcels jointly.
