March: Writing and Creating 5-Minute Plays

Don’t wait for someone to give you a part in a play! Write your own! Never written a play before? That doesn’t matter! Start by writing a five minute play in a fun, supportive environment with a historic theater as your classroom! The final class will include a play reading of the artists’ work that family and friends are welcome to attend. Class meets on Tuesdays, March 3- 24, four sessions from 3:30-4:45 (ages 7-11) and 5-6:15 (ages 12 and up)

April: Acting in a World Premiere

Be the first actor to play a part in one of the 5-minute plays written in the March session. All participants will receive a role that they will rehearse, memorize and perform in a World Premiere showcase for the final class that family and friends are welcome to attend. Class meets on Tuesdays, March 31- April 28 (no class 4/21 during April vacation), four sessions from 3:30-4:45 (ages 7-11) and 5-6:15 (ages 12 and up)

May: Nail Your Audition

Until you are an A-list movie star, you will audition at least as much, and probably even MORE, than you will perform. So, if you plan to continue acting, it’s ALWAYS a good idea to fine tune your audition. Participants will choose an audition song and monologue, practice slating, practice interacting with an accompanist and, ultimately, perform their audition for the final class that family and friends are welcome to attend. This session is highly recommended for anyone who will be auditioning for Peter Pan in June. Class meets on Tuesdays, May 5- 26, four sessions from 3:30-4:45 (ages 7-11) and 5-6:15 (ages 12 and up)

June: Fire Up Your Voice

As actors, our voice is one of our most valuable tools but most young people don’t use their voice to its full potential. Through a series of improv exercises and text work, participants will examine their vocal range, find more dynamic ways to express their words, explore the impact of tone and learn how to make powerful and intentional choices in their vocal expression. The final class includes a showcase that family and friends are welcome to attend. Class meets on Tuesdays, June 2- 23, four sessions from 3:30-4:45 (ages 7-11) and 5-6:15 (ages 12 and up)
