NK Army National Guard Specialist is Rhode Island's Soldier of the Year

"These eight soldiers serve as outstanding examples of the leadership excellence and deserve this recognition," said LTC(R) Robert Galvanin, chapter president, Rhode Island Chapter of the Association of the United States Army.

Army National Guard Specialist Sam R. Pittle of North Kingstown was recognized as Rhode Island Solider of the Year at the annual Soldiers of Excellence  awards dinner held at the Quonset "O" Club recently.

The Rhode Island Chapter of the Association of United States Army, along with Banneker Industries, recognized Pittle along with seven other soldiers with the Army National Guard and Army Reserve during the awards, which were held on May 21.

Soldiers were recommended by the Unit in which they serve in the Army Reserve and Army National Guard, and then go on to compete at higher levels to achieve the recognition for which they have been awarded. Award recipients received a free membership to the AUSA and a commemorative pen and pencil set.
