Police said the victim initially made a complaint in June 2011, but did not want to cooperate at the time, noting that when she complained of the abuse in the past, officials in Maine and her mother did not believe her.

The victim told police she was now coming forward because she believed Tomlinson was sexually assaulting a family member that was five years old.

Based on the information provided by the victim and further investigation by police, an indictment and arrest warrant were secured on March 8.

According to Narragansett police, officers were advised during roll call that Tomlinson had a warrant out for his arrest as of March 8, and that South Kingstown police believed he might be staying with a family member in Narragansett.

Police said that when they visited the family member on March 10, Tomlinson was there, and he was arrested without incident. He was transported to the ACI at about 4:35 p.m.

Tomlinson was not granted bail following hearings on March 11 and March 18. Another hearing is scheduled for March 25. A no-contact order is in place between Tomlinson and the victim.
