North Kingstown Chamber Of Commerce To Host Holiday Charity Event

The "Making Spirits Bright" Trees of Lights event will provide funding for local nonprofits.

NORTH KINGSTOWN, RI—The North Kingstown Chamber of Commerce has announced the start of its"Making Spirits Bright" Trees of Lights event to support several local nonprofits this holiday season.

The “Making Spirits Bright” Trees of Lights event, cohosted by North Kingstown restaurant Back 40, will take place in the restaurant's outdoor dining area. Each nonprofit will be decorating a tree, with lights donated by Ocean State Job Lot, in a way that conveys the mission of their organization to increase community awareness.

“Through a donation, we received 14-foot trees that were placed in our outdoor dining area in the lot adjacent to our building,"said co-owner of Back 40 Justin Dalton-Ameen in a statement. "We are delighted to support local charities by providing a tree for them to decorate. In addition, we are selling raffle tickets as we received an amazing assortment of gift baskets. We thank you in advance for supporting these charities."

The community will be invited to view the trees and participate in the raffle during Back 40's operating hours. From December 4th until the 21st, the restaurant will be selling raffle tickets for $5 per ticket or $25 for six tickets.

“The Chamber has actively been supporting businesses by providing goods through a Take it Outside grant and complimentary IT consulting sessions as well as a “Live Local” video series through a Business Technical Assistance grant,"said Executive Director of the North Kingstown Chamber of Commerce Kristin Urbach in a statement. "In addition, the Chamber wanted to support local charitable organizations. As a result, we were delighted to partner with Back 40 to spotlight local charities that provides a festive and fun holiday experience."

As of Thursday, the nonprofits that are participating include Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 152, Pet Refuge, North Kingstown Food Pantry, West Bay Community Theater, Savvy Giving by Design, and the North Kingstown Rotary Club. All of the proceeds will be evenly divided among the nonprofits and the winners of the raffle will be announced on December 22.
