North Kingstown Jaguars PeeWee Football Win the PreTeen Superbowl
Jaguars shut out the Seahawks 26-0 and go undefeated for the season.
The North Kingstown Jaguars Football PeeWee football team, consisting of 9-10 year olds from North Kingstown and surrounding towns, won the league Superbowl in historic fashion this Sunday. The team beat the NorthEnd Seahawks 26-0, with dominating play in all phases of the game. The win capped an undefeated season with the team going 11-0, outscoring opponents 278-50, and shutting out their opponent in 6 of their 11 games.
The Jaguars started the game quickly with touchdowns on their first two possessions and there was no stopping them from there. Lovell Keanneally carried the team early, finishing the game with over 100 yards rushing behind a strong left side of the line highlighted by Cesar Cruz, Connor Bellucci, and Jayden Archie. Gabe Saballa started the scoring. His first touchdown run began as a run right over center Charlie Marshall and guard Isaiah Charette but a great cutback and a couple blocks by tackle Owen Reilly and tight end Chase Sullivan led to a 7-0 lead. The defense held the Seahawks to no yards and the offense followed that with another touchdown by Gabe Saballa to go up 13-0. Touchdown runs by Ryan Santo and Chris Ciarnello capped the scoring to go ahead 26-0. Then, it was the defense’s turn to take charge. The Seahawks, a prolific and talented offense, saw Jaguars jerseys at every turn and couldn’t manage a scoring drive. The defense was led by linebacker Amir Calderon with 8 tackles, consistent pressure by defensive linemen Drew Devries, Raul Porto, and Matt Young, and a late interception by linebacker Dan Napoli.
North Kingstown Jaguars Football had another great year with all 4 age levels of teams making the semifinals of the playoffs and two of them advancing to the Superbowl. The Junior Varsity Team, though falling in the Superbowl in a heartbreaking 15-8 loss, went undefeated in the regular season, finishing with a record of 10-1.
