North Kingstown's Casey Cook On NBC's "Songland" Wednesday Night

Rhode Island native will show off her songwriting chops for rapper Macklemore.

NORTH KINGSTOWN, RI — "Songland" will have a Rhode Island feel Wednesday night when South Kingstown’s Casey Cook pitches a song to rapper Macklemore on the season debut episode of the singer/songwriter series. Cook was born and raised in Rhode Island where she has been performing since she was 8 years old.

After working with a group of songwriters throughout the episode, Macklemore picks one song to record and release. The episode airs at 9 p.m. on NBC.

Cook, who graduated from Belmont University's music program and moved to Los Angeles in 2015, has been counting down to the big night on social media in recent weeks.

Cook also recently released her single "Pieces" with Sammy Plotkin. Cook originally released the song last summer but said she had to pull it because it was under consideration for "Songland." Ultimately, the show went with a different tune. Here what it is when you can root on one of Rhode Island’s own tonight.
