Northern Lights May Be Visible In Rhode Island Monday Night

The Northern Lights may be visible in Rhode Island Monday night due to a solar storm.

According to the Aurora forecast from the Geophysical Institute at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, “highly active auroral displays will be visible overhead” in Rhode Island as far south as Pennsylvania and Northern New Jersey, weather permitting.

A rare G3 magnetic storm is anticipated Monday night, according to Fox News. That means Aurora borealis, or Northern Lights, will be visible from an expanded area. They should be visible periodically throughout the night, perhaps peaking between midnight and 3 a.m., according to accuweather.

Mostly clear skies throughout the region will increase the chances of catching a glimpse of the phenomenon.
