Obituary: Patricia McNamara Norwood, 84

Patricia McNamara Norwood, 84, of North Kingstown, passed away on Sunday morning Nov. 10, at Kent County Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Walter Norwood for 38 years.

Born August 4, 1929, in Providence, daughter of William and Margaret Duschene McNamara, Mrs. Norwood grew up in East Providence, graduated from St. Mary's Bay View Academy, Catholic Teachers' College and St. Rose College. She was an art teacher with the Sisters of Mercy order and the Warwick School Department.

Mrs. Norwood loved beauty in nature, flowers and the wildlife that visited her gardens. Finding inspiration in friendships and reading, she was active in the Cindy-Wood Garden Club, a reading group and was a communicant of St. Francis de Sales Church.

Besides her husband, she is survived by her nephew, William, in Washington, grandnieces Erin and Shannon McNamara and a cousin Michael McNamara of Rumford. She leaves many friends who cherished their time spent with her. She was predeceased by her brother William McNamara.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, Nov. 13, at 11 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Church, School St., North Kingstown. Calling hours will be prior to the Mass from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Hill Funeral Home, 822 Main St., East Greenwich. Burial will be in Pawtuxet Memorial Park, Warwick. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Francis de Sales Church.
