Obituary: Thurston Milton Mathewson, 90
Married for 70 years to Virginia (Bacon) Mathewson, he was a WWII Air Force veteran.
Thurston Milton Mathewson, 90, died Tuesday, Aug. 27. He passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Virginia (Bacon) Mathewson, and their daughters: Sally Neal, Gayle LaPlante, Lori Marden, Teri Wolff, and Stephanie Mazzone. Drink (as he was known) was grandfather to 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
He was a WWII Air Force veteran, serving as a crew chief on C-47's. He retired in 1993 after a long career as a lithographer. He loved fishing, camping, and family cookouts.
A private graveside service was held at the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Memorial contributions in his memory to the American Cancer Society will be appreciated.
