Pets Of The Week: Olivia & Portia
Olivia's the mother, and Portia's the kitten. Pet Refuge made a promise to keep them together.

By Rachel Wells, Pet Refuge
NORTH KINGSTOWN, RI— Olivia and Portia are two special girls who have been with us for a while now and we can’t seem to figure out why. They are a sweet, fun loving, mother daughter duo that were brought to the Refuge with a saddening story. Olivia had been previously owned by someone but they passed away shortly before or after she had given birth to two helpless, little kittens. By the time family members found Olivia, one of her little ones did not make it. Whilst having to deal with the depression from loss of her owner, the only home she’d ever known, and the loss of her baby, Olivia and Portia found themselves at our shelter. After everything they have been through together we believe it’s only right that they stay together. In fact, we promised them.
Now, a little about this duo; Olivia is about a year and a half now. She’s very meek and mild mannered as well as sweet and affectionate. She’s a very quiet girl who will only ever make a peep when she hears the treat bag open. She loves her daughter and still continues to groom her and teach her to play.

Portia is about 10 months now and is also as sweet as they come. She is as cute as can be with her big copper eyes and her little thumbs! (Yes- she’s double pawed!) Still being somewhat of a kitten and all, she loves to rough house with her mama and snuggle up next to her when they’ve successfully tuckered themselves out.
If you’re interested in adopting or considering adding a cat or two to the family look no further than this pair! You can contact the Pet Refuge at 294-1115 or come by the shelter at 500 Stony Lane, North Kingstown. After all, two is better than one!
