Plum Beach Garden Club Receives a $5,000 Donation in Support of Their Projects

Plum Beach Garden Club (PBGC) recently received a $5,000 donation from Alex Wallau, brother of Anne Wallau for whom the charming Anne Wallau Garden at the corner of Updike Park in Wickford Village is named. ANNE’S GARDEN was planned and planted by Plum Beach Garden Club in 1996 and was funded by family and friends of Anne as a tribute to her memory. The garden provides a perfect place for people to sit and relax on a stroll through Wickford. PBGC continues the upkeep and maintenance of this garden, as well as other gardens in the community, and is grateful to Alex for his recent donation in support of their projects.

The bronze plaque that identifies this garden was recently mounted on a rock and “elevated” for easier viewing. When the “perfect rock” for this improvement was found, the challenge was how to get it to where it needed to be! The North Kingstown Public Works Department came to the rescue and moved the rock across town and put it into place. The club could not have done this without their help. Thank you!
